Maddoc was diagnosed with severe Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, or HIE, which means that his brain did not get sufficient oxygen for several minutes resulting in brain tissue death. 95-100% of his brain was shown to be damaged via MRI scans. Team Luke Hope for Minds provided financial assistance twice which Maddoc’s family was able to use towards two 40-session Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments. Maddoc is improving slowly but surely. His family has seen improvements in his ability to smile, coo, and swallow among other things!
